I cannot get in contact with a firm and my goods are faulty!

I bought an Android tablet as a Christmas present for my daughter but discovered well before Christmas that is was not working as it should. I have since tried emailing and phoning the on-line company, namely The Android Shop, for a refund but have had no response. I did phone Consumer Direct who said they would report the incident to Trading Standards and if they could do anything, they would contact me but I have not heard anything.

I paid by PayPal but they cannot help as the time period in which they refund has since expired.

Has anyone got any advice please?

If I took this to court (as a matter of principle) would it cost me anything?

Thanks!

Anyone else see the irony in that email address? :rotfl:

OP - bear in mind that you may not have an automatic right to a refund. Retailer may offer a repair or replacement.

And yes court would cost you (filing fee + hearing fee) but these are added to the total claim. You would need to exhaust other options though in order to get a remedy before this.
The challenge is then actually getting the money awarded.

i know its not actually "the correct way of doing things" but which tablet is it? who's the manufacturer ? have you tried going to them?
  • Thanks everyone for your comments, you have given me a few options to work from.

It's the fact that I am not getting replies from the Company that worries me the most. Even if they could just respond with some advice with regards to what could be wrong with the Android, I would be grateful.

I'll let you know how I get on!

Oh dear. If it was theandroidshop.tv that you bought the tablet from then if these reviews are anything to go by I doubt you will get anywhere. It seems they have a reputation for !!!! customer service and in fact don't respond to Emails. Other than an Email address, they have no other contact details on their website. Firstly take this as a lesson - do not buy from websites that do not have a contact address or a UK phone number.

This is one of a number of websites operated by a company called Tronix (GB) Ltd. The good news is that they are still trading. Their registered address according to Companies House is 145-157 ST JOHN STREET, LONDON, EC1V 4PW, although it seems they trade from the 10 Burleigh Road address. One of the directors is listed as Miss C.E. Harris. Their Whois record has a mobile phone number listed for a Claire Harris. Tel: 07779554499. Try calling that and don't let them fob you off.
