Hi there,
I feel so strongly about this that I think it might be something that Martin Lewis might have a look at .
A few years ago (maybe 3) I signed up for a company called https://www.nochex.com. I thought it a good idea at the time as I wasn't using paypal and I was buying a few small items on ebay. Basically you sign up giving them your banking details so that you can load a specified amount of money into your nochex account, and then as the need arose you could send that to a seller thorugh their nochex email. Worked fine for me and I was pleased with it at the time.
Late last year I realised that I had a small amount in my nochex account probably just £5 so I tried to sign in to return it to my bank account, only to find that my account had been deactivated because of inactivity and I had to go through a legnthy process of downloading a form, sending it with my bank account statement to their main office in Leeds. Never got any reply so emailed them today, got this reply back

WOW. I've had a nochex account for years and never knew that. Although I've only used it a handful of times, it was nice to know thats it's their. I'll have to check if mine is still active.0

I had to reactive my account last year but it was nothing like you described and all of it was done online..0

The dormant account clause has been discussed earlier
e.g.
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=314333"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I think Nochex is equally bad for buyers.
About a year ago I bought 2 dvds on ebay from a seller who seemed quite genuine, and paid through Nochex as he that was the only payment method he accepted.
One dvd arrived and proved to be a pirate copy, I emailed the seller but he had disappeared leaving only a string of negative feedback and a 'no longer a registered user' note.
Thinking Nochex would behave the same as Paypal in this situation I contacted them to reclaim the money, only to be told that they did not cover buyers cheated by their users.
I was disgusted and now will not buy using this payment method.Oh dear, here we go again.0
