We're visiting family in Leeds at Easter and are thinking of booking Haven Primrose Valley or Blue dolphin, or maybe on the other side Blackpool - Cala Gran or Marton Mere. We like to escape the parks for a few day trips but i'm a softy southerner and worried about how cold it might be at the beginning of April.
Anyone been to any of these at Easter?
Is there is much to do outside the parks for cold weather at these places?

funnily enuff i been to all of those parks, and 3 are fantastic only 1 i wasnt keen on for some reason or another was Cala Gran, have already a march hol booked for marton mere, just awaiting sun to open to book another

just wanted to say thanks to everyone for this thread!

we collected the tokens last year for our very first haven holiday, got our first choice back and loved it,

got my priority booking form, when you do it online do a majority of people usually got there first choice?
with the priority online booking is it quicker then collecting the tokens like i did last year?

    thanks everyone :)

    Hi All
We are eagerly awaiting the site to open as well to try and book our holiday. I have a question regarding european holidays as we want to go for 7 days but are unsure of the dates we can go for those times. Will it all become clearer on the website later this is our first time of using priority forms also why dont they include August in this. Any feedback would be most welcome

Fingers crossed for Italy in July XX

I'm not sure of dates for the european hols either and am hoping for school hol dates. Looking at the start dates in the priority application brochure these seem to avoid the school hols. This maybe a silly question but is this the case for the european hols as the brochure only states travel not available dates that coincide with hols and doesn't say anything about the parks ?

According to the Sun's website the 7 day euro breaks can start on both Fridays and Mondays. If this makes no difference to you then put both start dates into your selection. You will need to fill in 5 lines which include a choice of 3 different dates and 3 different sites for the search to continue. Worth thinking about now before it goes live. I'm a saddo and have lots of different scenarios all blu tacked to my wall cos I got all flustered last Jan lol!!! :rotfl:

Hi claire booking online is a lot quicker as you can play around with the dates and parks also you dont have to wait around until the end of feb to see if youve been sucessfull you get told then and there only thing with the booking online is they charge you £1.80 (i think) booking charge so it works out slightly dearer than booking by post HTH

A lot of parks don't open until March because it is cold, if you go in February make sure you take heaters ! We went to Sandford park in february a few years ago and they upgraded us because the weather was cold and we had a baby. When we went to pontins in February it was freezing, no heating and no upgrade.

We went to haggerston castle in october and it was freezing. the park even rang us to tell us to bring a portable heater because of the extremely cold weather they were experiencing which was nice of them even tho we already had one packed. my god we needed it. one morning the baby monitor recoreded a temp of 11 degrees in the kids room, dread to think what it dropped to in the night :( sure feb will be something similar.

I think I am going to have to knock Brittany on the head. I've been looking at ferry costs to Brittany and they are very very expensive, approx £300-£400 return.
How much cheaper can the sun make it?

Is Dover/Folkestone-Calais out of the question then? We usually use Eurotunnel and travel down to the Vendee, with a stayover close to Dover the night before.

With the daily mail it's £39 for the return ferry. We booked a week in June (half term) with ferry in Brittany in a caravan for £368 all in. HTH.
The ferry is dover calais though

I have looked on the DM website for Europe and it was coming out at £500 + in Brittany for the Whit week but that include Dover/Calais ferry not sure what the supplement would be for any other Port.

The Sun is not offering ferry crossing from Dover - Calais with P&O for the Whit week (June) it states that on the website www.ukholidaysinthesun.co.uk/ferry-promotions but with Brittany Ferries for Plymouth - Roscoff it still is quite expensive you can't get the exact price until you put your booking ref in the box but it looks like it could be about £250 - £300 - £166 for ferry plus £70 supplement for Whit holiday travel plus £20 fast craft travel as well thats for 7 nights/8 days cheaper for 3/4 night holidays, hth
