Long time since I went, But DD going soon. If you go for a full day you will be able to look at the halls of residence. Some are much worse than others and you would know which one to put as your first choice.

I went with my daughter to an open day yesterday for people who'd been offered places on a particular degree course, and there were only 7 students present ( intake for the 4 courses covered on this open day is 300). Obviously not many people DO go, but my daughter and I both thought it was beneficial. She met some of the tutors, had a full campus tour including halls, found out a lot about course content/modules etc and met with current and post grad students. They were able to give her lots of info that the Guardian and Push guides don't, plus she got a feel for the uni on a normal working day. Inside tips like which halls were best, or being refurbished were worthwhile too.

I'd definitely recommend going. Like everyone has said, it's a great chance to have a look round the university, meet other people who are starting at the same time as you, and just get a feel for the place. If you can, try and chat to as many current students as you can and find out what their experiences have been like. They'll give you a true picture of what life there is like...

You should definitely go! How can you be sure you want to go there without going and checking it out? It'll be great to get a feel for the place, the nightlife, etc, and find out if it's the way you think it will be. Big congratulations on your offer!!!!!

You should go... when talking to the students that already go there, make sure to ask the best way to get to mumbles... :p
