E: 27/07 WIN A TRIP Northern Ireland
Comments

I have lived here in Northern Ireland for 65 years and if you cross the
border by BUS (as I do every Thursday) once you pass from Newry going towards Dundalk the Garda come on the bus and request passport, or proof of identity, if you are a pensioner then your Senior SmartPass (free bus/train pass) or your Electoral Identity Card will be accepted.

Correct. N.Ireland is part of the U.K.and I never needed a passport for airport travel for 44 years. Mine expired 2007 and I was told in G.Best airport by Flybe check in staff that I would need a passport if I returned due to heighted security following 9/11. Though a good idea anyway just in case I win the Lottery and need to jet off to celebrate!!If you live in England, Scotland or Wales you do NOT need a
passport as Northern Ireland IS part of the United Kingdom, if
you cross the border into the Republic of Ireland (Donegal or Dublin) then you may be asked for a passport as R.O.I. is
a different country. 2 countries on the Island.
