So you don't get male make up artists, men working in Boots etc?
OP, there is nothing wrong with Avon's style of marketing, although it might help if they targeted a wider market to get over silly stereotypes like that of katerinasol!0 -

Oh, please. I'm not saying that men SHOULDN'T work in make-up/fashion/Boots(?), but that out I can't imagine most of my bog-standard 'blokey' mates wax lyrical about how great this new eye cream is. Most of them are terrified to take their girlfriends to Superdrug!0 -

The vast majority of the Avon customers are women. The vast majority of Avon 'sales personnel' consist of women who sent off for the catalogue and pass it round at work - the 'rewards' are fairly pathetic if you don't SELL! SELL! SELL! which, frankly most are too embarrassed to do.
If you think that you can sell cosmetics, perfumes, miscellaneous toiletries and the odd gift pack then off you jolly well go.
I think you'll find that most of your customers will be women - you might make a few sales down the pub with the regulars who are looking to buy a decent gift fot the female loved ones. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
For somebody who appears to advocate precision, why are you showing only a selected element of the comment made by Jeremy Clarkson in your signature ?
And indeed, if you are so concerned about rights, I would have to point out that it is a right to withdraw your labour too. Obviously the only rights you are concerned about are those that centre around you!0 -

That's the point I was trying to make but I got accused of being sexist.0 -

Avon has many, many very successful male representatives and executives. As a rule, the job is more 'aimed' at women for the following reasons:
They get to buy discounted make-up & fragrance
Hours fit around children etc and are usually part time
Women use the products, and can recommend them first
Remuneration is not massive versus effort put in - generally men who do Avon go full time and build a team of reps rather than staying as a representative.
Hope you understand what I'm trying to put across. Anything can be misinterpreted, but Avon certainly do not discriminate, if in doubt sign up!Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???0 -
How many men know what is a good lipstick? Have they tried them? How can they sell a beauty based product?0

Based on your viewpoint, I guess a man with no hair should not be a hairdresser either?
That is not the same thing at all. He had hair once! And hairdressing is a skill not the ability to use a product and give feeback on it or an opinion surely0 -
