My daughter has lost her new Christmas iPod shuffle, bought in December on my Lloyds bank VISA debit card... do I have any loss protection on a debit card?

not unless you have an account with accidental damage or loss coverage - this would be on a current account with additional benefits, there is nothing consumer rights based which would allow you to claim on a standard account.0

You could have some with your home insurance but it's unlikely you'll have 'oh i'm a silly bugger' insurance from paying 'cash'0

I really miss my 100 days free insurance cover on Nationwide credit card (now discontinued) - do any other cards offer anything similar? So useful over Christmas0
