Parking scams!!!!!!

in Parking tickets, fines & parking
my neighbour got a similar invoice and ignored all letters. The company rang her though which I find quite strange. She said that they can get your number from the DVLA is this true???? Also if they do ring what do I tell them??? Do I tell them to politely get lost or what??

    Yes, some companies do phone.

    Don't tell them anything. Just put the phone down on the side, and get on with what you were doing.

    I am ex directory and dont think its right that the DVLA can sell your number for a small fee. Think I will just tell them that they have the wrong number!! My neighbour has a phone that shows the number so they just ignored the calls. Wish mine was the same :(

    No they don't get the number from DVLA or so the DVLA claim! There are many ways they can get it.

    Roxburghe by any chance?

    They get your name and address from DVLA and its no great effort to find a number. You also give the number to dvla (usually) so if its ex-d then I have no doubt dvla give it up. AFAIK we are the only EU country to allow the dvla or equivelent to divulge this.(not even sure that its legal under EU rules but so far that has not stopped them.

    Thats shocking!!!!!!!!! Especially as it is such a scam. Maybe I am in the wrong job!!! Bet they make a fortune out of it. I have told anyone that answers the phone in my house and I am asked for by my full name to tell them that they have the wrong number.

    The DVLA don't give out phone-numbers (so they claim), but it's easy enough to get a telephone number by looking at sites such as 192.com.

    Why on earth would you try to duck and hide if a debt collector phones about a fake PCN that you do not owe anyone anything for?

    I am a bit bored of copying & pasting the same replies to everyone on this board this week, maybe it's 'new-year-itis' but I am a bit jaded by the way so many people cannot see that private parking tickets are scam, when we have soooo much info on our forum about it. Why not just read the sticky threads at the top by Crabman, watch the Watchdog video and search this sub-forum for keywords that summarise your query?

    You could just search the forum for 'Roxburghe telephone calls parking' or similar keywords and you would have the answer in other threads, of what to say if a debt collector phones about this non-existent 'debt'.
