Wire through gutter - leak

Hi - hoping for some advice on this.
We bought a house recently and when it rained noticed there was a leak where the conservatory meets the house.
I spoke to a roofer who had a look and it looks like the previous owner has added a light to the outside wall - to do this he's gone through the gutter that has been built where the house and conservatory join.
My question is what is the best thing to seal around the wire to stop water getting in (for now)?
In the future I am going to remove the wire - what would be the best thing to then cover the hole where the wire was.
I'm also going to re-seal the entire gutter - is there something brushable i can use?
Thanks in advance

A tube of mastic sealant should do the trick.
Make sure the part you are going to seal is perfectly dry when you apply the sealant.
(You can use a hair drier)I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
thanks for the quick reply.
I have just seen some of this on ebay that comes in a tin - that you then paint on. do you think this would be good to paint the rest of the gutter (just as a double protection)0 -
It will depend on how big a gap there is to fill.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
