Oyster Card

A 7 day travelcard, either on Oyster, or as a paper ticket will be cheapest. If you get a paper ticket (by buying at Twickenham station rather than a tube station) you will get 2 for 1 offers on some London sights)
Your child will travel free on buses and tubes and on the green lines on this map:

But given you are in Twickenham that will be difficult - s/he will need a child rate travelcard at £3 odd a day
Not 100% sure but you may need a passport photo for the 7 day travelcards
The other alternative for the child is to get, in advance, an Oyster photocard. It costs £10, non refundable, but will make the maximum off peak daily travel cost £1.400
