Please....be.....nice!!!!!

Hi everyone,

As you can see I am relatively new to this site. I have posted some questions and had some fantastic responses - thank you!

I have also contributed to some threads and have hopefully helped someone and made a positive contribution.

I have to say though that it saddens me to see some posters being unnecessarily rude and personal to others.

It is a tough old world "out there" and sometimes when you feel the world is crumbling around you and you are sick to death of putting a smile on your face when you want to just cry buckets, this forum is just what you need.

Of course some people may have "ideas" that others may deem foolish, crazy, selfish, irresponsible, etc. but the fact of the matter is they have felt "safe" enough to post their questions here. Sometimes it takes a heck of a lot of courage to ask advice, especially if you feel the answer to your question is so obvious to others.

We are not all money savvy - hence the reason so many of us are on here - and no one is too old to have their lightbulb moment and change how they do things. I'll bet so many people have learned so much from this site and knowledge gives you power and confidence to face another day.

Practical and helpful advice is much more productive than being offensive to someone by calling them names and being personal. Better that we help someone here with constructive advice rather than them go and make a mistake that could so easily have been avoided with some support.

There is a huge bank of talent here, people who have "been there and done it", people with "financial experience", people with oodles of "life" experience and people with "big shoulders and warm hearts".

If you see what you feel is a silly question please try hard to offer helpful advice. If you can't do that then don't respond.

I hope you all take this in the spirit it is meant. Sometimes I find life a challenge and I for one appreciate the fantastic support and help of this forum.

Apparently the snow is coming - take care everyone!!

Jen

Yes Jennie, that's what Martin says too:

Please be nice to all MoneySavers. There’s no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.

There will always be a minority who try to spoil things. Try to remember that the majority of members are here to save money and many will try to help others with useful advice and tips.

I would go as far as to say that there are some wonderful members of this site. I've been lucky to meet some of them in person too..........and hope to meet others at future MSE meetings.

    Regards

Yeah.... of sorts...... Been feeling like this for a while.

So many awful things happen around us and as I approach my 29th birthday (again, again, again) I just think we should all try and be a bit more tolerant and stick together.

It's easy to call someone an idiot, twit, fool and there is no helping some people who are hell bent in taking a certain path.

I would hate to think an unnecessary offence comment stops someone posting here which results in them getting into trouble.

Perhaps I am turning into "Hippy Jen" in my old age...

Jennie, hold on in there and let it all roll off you. MSE is a large forum and therefore it reflects the range of population out there in the real world. As such, you will find wonderful people and nasty peeps.

Please ignore the miserable gits and attend to the kind and helpful, as there are far more of these around. The best way to deal with the unplesant ones is to deprive them of the oxygen of attention.

    Welcome to MSE :)

PS - I try to be one of the good 'uns. ;)

Obstacles are things a person sees when he takes his eyes off his goal.
  • I think sometimes its how we read the posts and how we misunderstand some people, some people just get really offensive when given constructive critisism, tho most of the 'regular' ones are fun to talk to and also new people, it's like an extended family. I'm glad i found this site:o

yourl also get to know the micky takers and realise they just lik eto make light of sometimes serious threads, but on the same point i think you have to be careful what you expect from people as it could mean stifling there opinion
