  • If your wife-to-be is very close to her family, get some pictures and make her up a beautiful album from the time she was a baby to growing up. Any women would love such things.

The fact that she will be entitled to half of your belongings, investments, property and internal organs isn't enough of a gift?

    Totally unheard of.

So they say, but I (also) find that really odd. Always ends off the perfect night, surely? And there's something about consummating the marriage.

I think a lot of brides buy something to wear themselves on their wedding night and this is possibly the one occasion when sexy underwear could 'lower the tone' a bit, I think that's more of a no reason, weekend away, birthday, anniversary etc gift than a 'forever for all eternity' gift. Not everyone will feel the same though, but I'd be wanting something far more romantic ... with the end result being exactly the same anyway!

DH & I also swapped gifts. Unbeknown to each other at the time, we both bought a watch (his was a pocket watch), both engraved.

If I were getting married now, I'd love my husband to be to buy me a Links friendship bracelet, there's something romantic about it to me, for some reason. Alternatively, something along the 'eternity' line, not an eternity ring, or something from the Tales from The Earth silver gifts range (life's lucky charms, all the love in the world etc ...)

    Congratulations!

No. It should be the most romantic day of your life, I like to think most people would not be thinking about investments and internal organs. Sigh.

Another answer: a love letter. Leave it for her to find on the wedding morning, ideally before she does her make up!

Sounds like a lovely idea! Or maybe even some Tiffany earings?
I also love the idea of the love letter to wake up to on her wedding day, may help those pre wedding nerves!
  • i like the sound of the earings. ask here mum or bridesmaid if she totally loves her jewellery for the wedding and whether she would appreciate you buying her a necklace or earings for the actual day and get one of them to give them to her when she wakes on the wedding day with a lovely hand written card or letter?

Am I the only red blooded male here?

Buy her a sexy wedding nightie and surprise her by not getting legless and rogering the hell out of her on your wedding night.

    Totally unheard of.

Nope. We managed that! And next morning too! We didn;t need a sexy nightie though - some silk side tie wedding knickers in 'something blue' were enough

I'm a woman. I would hate it. Absolutely hate it. I would rather have the Tiffany jewellery (and I'm not even that into jewellery!)

I thought marriage was a partnership, and each spouse owned 1/2 of everything!
He'll be entitled to just as much as her!

Second January20 - I'd hate an album, but agree with everyone that a love note (perhaps on a nice bit of card) could be the gift that she appreciates the most and treasures for the longest.

I think Tiffany jewelry is hideous but OP obviously knows her better than I do! It is nice to get her something that matches what you bought her early in the relationship, a nice reminder of when the relationship was in its first flush.
