Death and Bank Accounts

I am hoping someone can help me with this. My mother died recently leaving a couple of bank accounts with some money in, and I have cards for these accounts, in my name, so I could take money in or out for her. The question is "Can I still do this using my cards" or, since she died without making a will, does it have to go to probate? Thanks

The cards are in your name or the accounts are in your name? Was it a joint account? Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0

The cards are in my name but all letters are addressed to her0

Accounts are frozen on death of the holder. Banks will usually allow family to withdraw money for funeral expenses.
However, will will need to contact the banks and produce a death certificate. Thet can advise you on whether your mum's estate has to go to probate.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
