SAR - Declined bt Citi

Hi

I sent a SAR to citi along with the account number. I sent a cheque to cover the cost.

The loan is from 2002 and they have sent me the cheque back advising they don't have to supply with the information as they no longer have a contract with me etc.

Is this right and is there anything else I can do??

in a way they are right.

they don't have to keep data for more than 6 years.

so they might have something about you but depends if they will let you know. I don't know how the ICO will see this.

I would report them to the ICO,you are requesting info under the data protection act,i would have thought that they could not decline this?,i know little about this and could be wrong.

Yes, you are correct, a DSAR has no limit and they are obliged to provide all information they hold in relevant filing systems (including microfiche).
