I have a new laptop and it doesn't give proper specs, I looked under control panel and the dvd hardware is listed as
Slimtype DVD A ds8a5sh
Using google, all I can find are people looking for drivers, there is no information about what I can write?
Thanks

DVD -R and DVD-RW it will do. You may find it'll also do +R/RW as well, but the -R will be fine

If you have Nero installed on your PC then use the Nero Info Tool
Start>programs>Ahead>Nero>Nero tool kit>Nero Info tool. Let it run and you will see a list of CD/DVD types the drive can read and write to.
Failing that, Nero Info Tool is available for free download. Use at your own risk.
