Ideas to sell my car

Hi guys

I m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I will really appreciate any help you can give me for selling my car.

I m in large debts and selling my car is the only way I see to put a dent on my debts.

My car: Ford Fiesta 2002 (old model)
Miles:41000
well maintained

quick questions:

1.how much can i sell it for?
2.how can i sell it and get the maximum value for it?

All your help and advice will be very much appreciated.

thanks

Get the model, engine size, number of doors and look up autotrader.co.uk for comparables and allow room for negotiation.
For max money try selling it from your local freebie paper and clean it to death, and keep recleaning it. Oh and be prepared for all manner of nuggets trying to "introduce" you to buyers for this months discounted offer.......

Go visit your local Ford dealer. Although he will not be too keen to buy, he will give you an honest valuation and probably give you good advice on where to sell it.

Quickest is via your nearest auction. Small cars like yours generally go for a good price.

  • This would be for a 2002 'Y' plate 1.3 fun

    Ford Fiesta (99-02)
    1.3 Fun 3d 2002/51
    Average mileage 40,000 miles
    Original Price £6,995
    Franchised Dealer £2,345
    Independent Dealer £2,165
    Private Good £1,915
    Private Poor £1,560
    Part Exchange £1,720

If that's your model, aim for ££1,900 but accept £1,800 (assuming it is in good condition. Bargain with any tax remaining and make sure it has a new MOT. Any extras such a CD player, car mats could swing a sale - especially for girls ;)

    Great cars for new drivers.

I'd sell on eBay with a reserve of £2,000. Put a mobile number and/or email address so that people can view it before bidding and accept offers following inspection. State in your listing that it is for sale elsewhere.

I sold a Fiesta this way then cancelled the auction. Even got more for it than I'd paid. Also, sold an Astra on eBay. It went to £1,200 but my reserve was £3k. The winning bidder contacted me and offered £2,895 (after a little persuasion). And no eBay fees. Naughty, I know.

Start the listing on a Thursday for ten days. You get two weekends this way.

    :)

And .... as post #2 .... totally ignore anyone contacting you "who has dozens of customers wanting your very car" .... as soon as you part with the reasonable sum of £50 to cover their admin? It's fairy tale stuff
