  • Nearly finished work, gone pretty quiet now so I've arranged my dentist and eye appointments for early February to get them out of the way.

Got a free eye test voucher and my contact lense check is free also. Think I may need new glasses this time so need to budget for that.
  • Spent £4.88 on groceries and £3.17 on lunch at work. 30p on a newspaper also.

Just wanted to say hello. You are doing really well, you are now aware of where your money goes. I would try and cut down on paying for your lunch but I'm sure you know that.

    My budget starts in February.

It's good to see a fellow Oldhamer on here.
  • Thank you. :)

Yeah I know all about the lunches, in a bit of a transition this month but hope to cut most of it out next month. Brought my own food in today so shouldn't spend anything today. I find it hard sometimes because I work at the airport and have got restrictions on what food and drink I can bring in. It really doesn't help, especially for drinks. They've just opened an Indian Take Away kiosk as well, just one for place to avoid!

I agree it's good to have another Oldhamer on here :)
  • I bought breakfast first thing in work when I got in, only had 8 hours between shifts do didn't fancy having/making anything before I left, that cost £2.99.

I finished work earlier so went shopping at Tesco, I had a £7 off a £50 spend voucher which was expiring soon. Spent £44.27 after the discount was applied, £1.02 on magazines and newspapers and £43.25 on food groceries. Made sure I only got what I needed and looked for good offers.

I filled up with £36 of petrol which should keep me going for the week at least.

After that it was a mad dash to the football, it was at home so used the season ticket to get in. I didn't spend anything at the ground either. The game ended a frustrating 0-0, should have won but no one has their shooting boots on!

I went to my local pub after the game as they were having a function and a childhood hero of mine, Roger Palmer was guest of honour. It cost £8 for a ticket which was pretty steep but it's rare he appears. Managed to get a photo with the legend and got a signed photo for £2. Along with some memorabilia for £4 and a pie and pint for £3 it turned out to be an expensive evening!

OOOO Roger Palmer. Have you put your Tesco receipt in to the Tesco price check? They check against Asda and if it would've been cheaper there they give you the difference.
  • I threw away the receipt! Will check next time I go though. I remember you could do it with ASDA but not with Tesco. I did get a £5 off £40 spend ending at the weekend. Also can get 100 clubcard points for getting a car insurance quote so will do that shortly.
  • I made and brought my own food in from work, kept it healthy. My only spend of the day was £1 on a bottle of coke and 50p to put in work's milk fund.

The airport have just opened a new Indian Take Away which was yards away from my office. Just one more temptation to try and avoid. It smelt so nice as well! I managed not to go though. :D
  • Again I brought my own food in from work so didn't spend anything on food. I did spend £1.80 on 2 bottles of coke but that was my only spend.

Been researching some cheap holidays during quiet times in work, hopefully going to book some flights on payday which is on Thursday.
  • 3 days in a row I've brought food into work and not spent anything in the shops in the Airport. It probably hasn't made much difference but I feel a lot better than I have done in the past and I've felt more full from what I've eaten than in the past.

I did spend £1 on a bottle of coke again. I need to try stopping that next and maybe bring drinks in from home but again working in an Airport makes this difficult or at least more planning before.

Was my last day in work before I have a couple of days off. I can catch up on my finances and properly plan what I'm going to do for the month ahead. Feeling positive.
