Tomtom Refund query

I bought a Tomtom from Halfords - Via Live 120 - in their clearance section. The whole reason I bought it was I'm going to Canada in June, and wanted a better device with the Lane Guidance function.

I had some issues with my purchase from the TomTom site for the Canada maps I wanted, in the end I was advised by a Customer Service Assistant on the phone that the model I have is not compatible with the maps, and there is a known issue with the Micro SD slot which renders this unusable too.

I do have my old Satnav which they have allowed me to link to on their site so I can put the maps on it, but obviously it won't have the same functionality.

Do you think I can request a refund from Halfords as in my opinion the device is not usable for the functionality it's supposed to have.

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping. Tomtom themselves have told me that!!

Did you order from the Clearance section of their website? They had some pretty good deals over Christmas. If you did you may still be in time for a DSR cancellation (7 working days from date of delivery).

Not exactly an issue, more a future proofing by TomTom.

The SD cards don't currently work, but will do later when TomTom offer a later software upgrade (which will be free of charge)

As the unit was as described, I can't see you getting your money back

  • doesnt say its not compatable with non european maps though.

i suppose if it were to work with usa and canada youd have to reflash its firmware with the american equivalant then load the maps. then revert it back when you get home, this would render the warranty void though as flashing firmware is risky buisiness.

What map were you trying to buy, Canada and Alaska or USA and Canada ? Which model have you got, UK or EU ? Have you asked the question on PGPSW forum, they can fix loads of faults that TT cannot figure out.
