The US economy created 200,000 jobs in December, marking the sixth month in a row of gains, official figures show.

The gain was much more than expected. Analysts had forecast a rise of about 150,000 jobs.

The unemployment rate dropped to 8.5%, which was the lowest level in nearly three years, from a revised 8.7% in November, the Labor Department said.

Sectors that saw large job gains included transport, housing, retail, manufacturing and healthcare.

Actually it is a different story just seemed like the same, at least they are both on the same page :) Hope this is a harbinger of more positive economic news in the future.
US Companies added more workers than forecast in December, a sign that the U.S. labor market was gaining momentum heading into 2012, according to a private report based on payrolls.
The 325,000 increase was the highest in records going back to 2001 and exceeded the highest projection in a Bloomberg News survey after a revised 204,000 gain the prior month, the report from the Roseland, New Jersey-based ADP Employer Services showed today. The median estimate called for an advance of 178,000

While the pound languishes very close to the 12 month low against the dollar.

We should celebrate being at a high against the Euro though. That's brilliant. I wonder why that has occured!?!? Should we even care?! It's good news. End of.

I apologise, I forgot to don my rose tinted sunnies before entering this thread!!
