Shopping within Europe

I am currently in Portugal and have just made an online purchase from a UK company to be delivered to Portugal. The transaction went through without any problem until my invoice arrived where it incorrectly showed the country of delivery as 'GB'. So my correct Portuguese address was shown followed by GB.
I have telephoned the company who say that their payment system only allows them to deliver to the country where the credit card is registered. As the card is registered to my UK address they can only deliver to the UK. Not much point if I am not there.
I am not up on EU trading laws but are we not supposed to be able to trade freely within the EU? Can anybody quote me any EU law that this bunch are in breach of if that is the case?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

companies are pretty much free to trade where and with whom the like - just as you're able to choose who you trade with - no law saying a company must trade with customers outside their country - and certainly not one saying that they should deliver to anything other than the credit card address - this is usually to help prevent fraud & theft.
The EU free trade stuff is just there to make it easier should a company want to do so - and mostly relates to business to business trade.0 -
have it sent to your home address and then get it posted on to you.0
