PPI Life insurance

My husband and I increased our mortgage in 2006 and were told that we had to have life insurance as a condition of the mortgage. Both were through HSBC. Does this sound a likely case for a reclaim?

Life assurance is not PPI (or vice versa).

Do you have evidence to support your accusation?
Do you have a financial need for life assurance? (being married, we can assume the answer is yes)

Whilst you may have been told you had to have it, very few complaints get upheld for that reason as there is usually no proof. So, yes, it is a mis-sale reason but unless there is another failing, it is not one you are going to be successful in.

As it is not PPI and would have been set up under an advice process, there would be a factfind, needs analysis, statement of demands and needs etc. None of these exist with most PPI sales (apart from MPPI under advice process). So, you need evidence to counter them.
