Rejecting Laptop

Had a long conversation with Dell on Saturday as I had enough of my laptop.
Bought in 2009 with a 4yr Warranty I have in that time had:
New Hard Drive
3 Motherboard Replacements
2 Heatsinks
1 Fan
Now several keys don't work at all and my battery does not charge properly so had to keep it plugged in all the time which has obviously made it worse.
They agreed to send out a new keyboard and charger but wanted to charge me £120 for a new battery even though I argued that there might be an issue with the laptop causing poor battery life.
Understand why batteries come with a 12 month warranty, but I have treated it no different than others which are still working fine.
Can I reject the Laptop as not fit for purpose based on this (+ previous issues) or not?

2-3 years for a well-used laptop battery is fairly good going to be honest - I've had some last longer, and many last less.
Not sure you can 'reject' it anymore - but if you've got a 4yr warranty then utilize this for any other issues. Roughly how long have you been without it (ie been in repair)? If it adds to quite a while, perhaps ask for a discount on the battery based on the inconvenience of not having you laptop for x weeks over the years.0 -

All repairs have been at home.
Had a result after complaining, dell have offered me a 'serviced' battery with 90 days warranty. Not brilliant but it'll do.
Also found replacement 9 cell batteries for less than £40 with 3 yr warranty so will buy this when the one they send me goes kaput0 -
were the motherboard, heatsinks and fans repaired in the same visit? e.g. 3 visits for the motherboard covered all parts?
as for the battery, good on Dell, they weren't obliged to provide you anything for that, so goodwill is a good thing0 -
Somewhat better than HP's attitude towards their customers which is 'It doesn't matter how many people report a given fault, we still won't recognise it as such' (to quote one of their C/S team.)Never Knowingly Understood.

3-6 month EF £0/£3600 (that's 0 days worth)0 -

3 visits but all within a few weeks as it didn't fix the problem
Much happier than I was - The new charger actually charged the battery for the first time in ages but the battery is still rubbish
Keyboard fixed so when I get the battery I'll have an almost new working laptop again :cool:0
