are you doing the calculation yourself and definitely talking units or are you actually referring to cubic meters or cubic ft?0
-
Definitely units.
Initial reading = 5513
Final reading = 5559
Units used = 5559 - 5513 = 46
No of days = 20
Units/day = 46/20 = 2.3units/day0 -

Just to compare during the recent mild weather I am using about 2.5 imperial units per day and are in all day so heating on all day.0 -

Oh sorry. They're cubic feet units. The heating was on more over the christmas period----off on holiday.0 -
Is an average of 2.3 units of gas per day over the past 20 days considered high by other forum users?
If so what would an average daily usage for a large'ish 3 bedroomed semi with gas CH be?

I keep a track of my monthly energy usage (gas & electricity) over the year. Total gas usage for 2011 was 15100kWh or 470 units.
My average daily usage in December 2010 was ~4 units/day compared to December 2011 which was 2.7 units/day. Admittedly December 2010 was a lot colder than December 2011.
The reason why I ask if my usage is abnormally high is that when I tried to submit a meter reading online to EDF their computer refused to accept my reading as "it" considered the readings to be too high form the date of the previous reading (i.e. 46 units in 20 days). So I had to telephone EDF up and wait the usual 30mins before getting through to someone get them to input my gas reading manually!!
So it was a case of EDF's computer saying ...."NO!!!!"
I personally don't think it is excessive for the size of the house and age of the boiler (+20 years) but it's just the fact that EDF's computer can decide if your usage is too high to be considered for an online reading that perplexes me.0 -
I don't ever believe the computer. Npower's computer sometimes don't accept my readings as they are too low. Your usage is on track with your previous usage pattern so nothing to worry about.:footie:

I wish mine was that - that's soooo copmpared to me. I have a 4 bed extended semi so slightly bigger but I've gone on to timed heating 2 hrs in a morning and 3 hours in the evening with stat at 18 degrees and still using 8 units a day!!!!0

The OP's meter is in cubic feet, if I remember correctly yours is in cubic metres, so you can't compare really, which is why it's best to use kWhNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0
