Blocket toilet/drain

Toilet flushes but water rises to rim of pan before slowly subsiding.

The water also backs up into the hand wash basin next to it. (The basin waste pipe is maybe 4 feet away from the toilet waste pipe.)

I've tried plunging with various things including a toilet brush with an old towel wrapped round it, nothing is helping.

I'm worried the fact the water is backing up into the sink, means that we have a blockage in the main soil pipe rather than the toilet.

I suspect the blockage is the result of the kids being over happy with some baby wipes.

Rented house. Very old cast iron pipes. Suggestions please?

I've already searched for the drain cover outside and I can't find one.

  • If you need to get someone out, look for a local company rather than those connected with Dyno Rod, half the price.

Mine was blocked in the old cast iron pipes, probably due to hair :(
