Transport for guests invite wording

Options
I am ordering some of our stationary from vista print whilst it is on offer and was thinking about including a card in with the invites informing the guests we will be providing transport from the ceremony to the venue and asking them to include on their reply if they would like to take advantage of this.

I'm using business cards for the inserts and have drafted this:

"We will be providing transport from the ceremony at Preston Hall to the reception at The Swan.

Please can you inform us on your R.S.V.P. if you would like to use this.

Thank you Lisa and Rob”

I’m not sure on the second sentence as my English is rubbish, do you think it is ok? Or is there a better way to word this?

I will be providing RSVP cards in with the invites which has “Transport from the ceremony to the reception is required / is not required” and a stamped envelope.

We had a tram to take everyone from the Town Hall to the reception venue, and used the wording:

"Please park your car at the reception venue and make your own way to the ceremony venue, as transport has been provided to the reception".

Only a select few (bridesmaid & best man) knew we had hired one of the vintage trams so nobody knew what to expect ;)

I think it's fine, especially as there is a tick box on the RSVP.

Or, a slightly more concise version could be

"Transport will be available between the ceremony and reception venues; please indicate on your RSVP whether you intend to use this."

I take it the two venues weren't far apart? :rotfl:

The reception is where my OH and I live and all of the guests (with the exception of 5 guests from the USA who will be staying with family) live there or a short and cheap taxi journey away. Most of them won’t be driving as they will be drinking so we thought it would be up to them to get to the ceremony and then home from the reception, the travelling in between we will pay for.

What a lovely gesture to provide transport...but make sure its used...ive been to several weddings where transport has been offered and sadly the take up on it was very poor...

If I were you I would consider not offering the option the guests of would they like it or not but to put something along the lines of

please arrange to arrive at "place a" by "time" as we will be transporting you to the wedding venue from there.

sometimes even though transport is kindly offered people think that by accepting it they are putting you to additional hassle and therefore will still make their own way...however if they know that they are to be at a certain place at a certain time to all collect transport then that sometimes works better...

We hired a coach to transport guests from the hotel to the church and back to the hotel and made it clear that this was not optional, due to the lack of parking at the church (apart from the guests with babies and an uncle recovering from a stroke).

Everybody said how much more exciting it was all travelling together to and from the ceremony, and helped the atmosphere back at the hotel for welcome drinks...

It was easy for us as the hotel that the reception was in was the hotel that everybody had booked into to stay in, and most had stayed over the night before - so the hotel car park was the collection point.

On the RSVP, we asked for their meal choice, and how many seats were required on the coach

    hope that helps....

  • We put a line saying that we would provide transport between the church and reception venue for any guests who needed it. We also added a line saying unfortunately we couldn't provide transport back at the end of the night and gave details of the local cab firm/train times.

On the rsvp we put a line asking if they would require transport and if so how many seats were required.
    getting married April 2012 - can't wait :)
