Repeated problems with double glazing

Hello,

I bought a porch through Anglian 2 years ago.
They installed the foundations, roof and the porch (ie the whole unit).

Since then, I have had to call them out approx 6 times to adjust the door as there are recurring issues with the key not turning.

I have just under 8 years left of the warranty.
Concerns are that after the warranty expires, I would have to fork out for a new porch!

Can this be classified as a faulty product? What are my rights - ie can I ask them to replace the porch FOC as either the product is faulty or the Anglian installer installed it incorrectly? What are my rights after the warranty expires due to the repeated issues with the porch?

On a separate issue, I bought a new Panasonic Viera tv - which came with a 5 year extended warranty thrown in. It has been just over 1 year and they have had to replace the screen twice. Again, when (and is it) possible to ask them to replace the whole tv if the problem reoccurs? Again, if it does reoccur then I don't want to be saving up for a new tv after the warranty expires as the probability of the product breaking down is very high due to the history.

Many Thanks for any advice!

Why would you need to replace the whole porch just because of a problem with the door lock??
As for your TV, Pansonic have a good reputation - what model is it? Was the TV bought from John Lewis? (they provide free 5 year warranties for the TVs they sell).

    Hi,

My point is that if the problem turns out to be the whole porch - maybe there is a problem with the frame which is causing the issue with the door - then I would need it replaced to fix the root problem.

What I want to find out is what my rights are as a consumer when a product that is purchased suffers from reoccuring problems and if I can expect these rights to be revoked as soon as the respective warranties expire - even though there is a history of problems with that specific product.

In terms of the double glazing issue - is it reasonable as a consumer to classify the porch door as faulty and ask for a permanent fix? What are your rights if the porch door cannot be fixed permanently? The issue I have mentioned started within a year of installation and continue to the present day.

I agree that Panasonic have a good rep - which is why I bought the product. I am not concerned what happens up until the warranty expires - more concerned about my rights after the warranty expires (ie if I have to get the screen replaced every year until the warranty expires - as what point is it deemed reasonable to ask the manufacturer to replace the whole tv as there are probably other problems that are leading to the failure of the screen).

Your contract is with whoever sold you the TV, not the manufacturer.

    Hi,

Thanks - you're right - it is with the retailer and not the manufacturer.

I'll wait and see if anyone can respond to the issues raised in my post.
