Free Mechanic Quotes?

Hi - can anyone tell me if mechanics issue free quotes? I have a clunking sound on my car which I want to get checked out, but a friend tells me it is a specific thing that needs fixing and I want to confirm this.

I very much doubt it, you should get an estimate but a quote could be difficult. Imagine what woul happen if he gave his best diagnosis and that was wrong or something even more simple like a bolt shearing.
Having said that he might be able to put his finger on the problem straight away so you could get lucky.0 -
