I've seen someone advertising their property on Rightmove for an olympic let, for £4k pw...

Personally, I'm not sure if the tourists would know to search on Rightmove and equally, I suspect that there is a lot of media hype too regarding the demand. Sure there will be some demand for ordinary houses/flats during the games but I'd expect that it would be for central/near central locations.

Still, a good potential earner if you can secure a let. Not being a fan of sports or crowds, I'd be tempted to do a house swap holiday with someone instead :)

People must have more money than sense if they would be prepared to pay these prices.

I think a lot of LL's are a bit deluded if they think they are geoing to get nearly the amount of money they are advertising their homes for.

Sport's always better watched at home, you can see numerous replays then.

Its not just your general ticket holders is it, families of competitors, especially the younger divers/gymnasts/swimmers, and personal coaches not accredited by ngb who want to be around a bit longer who are prime targets for housing like that.

4k per week for 6 bedrooms isnt so extortionate, under a hundred a day per room, so less than most hotels will be.

Beckenham's bloody miles away from Stratford. The London Overground doesn't go there either.

I could probably let my flat out but can't be arsed with the hassle TBH.

Nah. I'm in Camden so it's fine. I can rent for however long I wish via internet sites.

AFAIK the only boroughs that allow short term lets are The City of London and Lambeth. All others have a minimum 90 day sub tenant clause.

Not sure what the situation is with home exchange etc. and having guests while you stay there does not contravene the lease.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

If you have spare rooms there should not be any reason why you can't tell people that they're friends staying with you.
