Deactivate Internet Banking?

Hi guys,
About a year ago, I closed my bank a/c however assumed the I/B service would be deactivated a few weeks after closure etc. I tried logging on and was successful. Does it make a difference if it has not been deactivated, internet banking service that is? Or should I call up and tell them to deactivate it?
Sorry I know this sounds like a daft question but I am confused as to why it has not been deactivated seen as I am no longer a customer of the bank!
Thanks in advance

I'd think they've forgotten to deactivate it0

I closed my santander bank account over a year ago, and can still access online banking. I think you have to request to have it de-activatedDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

dzug1, do you think I should give them a call and ask them to deactivate it, or would you suggest leaving it hoping it sorts itself out?0

Thanks for the reply Jen245. Oh right. I never knew that. I remember being adv by the bank staff that the I/B would deactivate itself, but I never paid much attention to it at the time TBH. At least I am not the only one.0 -
Some internet banking services, once an account has been closed, will still allow you to look at your accounts but you can't make any transactions.0

Does OP have any other financial product with the bank?
Eg closes account but still has either a savings account or credit card open with the bank?0 -
You can probably leave the Internet Banking open so that if in future you decide to open a new account with that bank, the services are still available to you.
But if you want to deactivate, contact the online helpdesk or telephone banking. Make sure you inform them if you want to deactivate both online access and telephone banking too. Just double check that they have actually closed the account, particularly if underfunding charges apply to it.0
