how many hours

Hi, have just very recently separated from my long term partner and need some advice on child tax credits and working tax credits. I work 16 hours a week so does that mean i would be entitled to wtc as well as ctc? We have 3 children and because of his wage we only ever got the smallest amount of ctc. Now he has moved out would I be entitled to more. I looked on the gov website but i saw that from April the amount of hours you need to work is changing from 16 to 24 or is that just for a couple? I dont think my work will be able to give me any more hours and i cant see how I can bring up my family on my wages . Can anyone help?

I think it is for a couple but the information isn't easy to get hold of. It might also be that new applications have to be 24 hours.

I work 16 hours and claim WTC. Best apply asap just in case there is a change happening. I am in same boat and if it goes up to 24 hours then I'm stuffed to cos work for NHS and no way of getting extra hours.

The new working hours rules for working tax credits apply to couples, so will not affect you.

    This link should help.

Don't wanna sound too glum but get on the blower and apply now, it isnt just a change of circumstances, it will be a full new claim and can take a LONG time (ie mine was 14 weeks!!) xxx
The feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea
