I am a mod on another forum, have been for 8 years ;)

In that case, particularly as you understand what it's like to board guide on such a massive board as the Old Style forum, then perhaps it would have been kinder to cut zippychick some slack rather than making an unneccesary dig at her. ;)

We (the Old Style board guides) are 'understaffed' this week due to personal/real life commitments. Basically the bottom line is that zippy is very kindly covering for all five of us. Cheers zip. :A

As has been said above if you have a problem with any bg or what they have posted, then please contact the forum team rather than making comments in threads. :)

Hi everyone, I live in an upstairs flat in a terraced house and because of the lack of window cleaners in my area I need to find a way of cleaning my outside windows.
So what I need to know are Magnetic Window Cleaners any good ? if so what one would you recommend, I have read some mixed reviews so I thought I would ask my savvy friends.
I am also considering a telescopic window cleaning kit again any views and recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks for reading. Viv

Tried one years ago, I'm first floor too, and if you have the patience to prise them off and reposition without dropping the outside bit then its possibly OK but mine got free cycled. hubby goes up a ladder once a year to do them in spring, and I do the ones that I can reach from the inside leaning out more often!

Sorry if it came across as me having a dig... It certainly wasn't meant to be.

Talk about deja vu we were talking about these to DS & his GF who have just moved into a 2nd floor flat and as the ones underneath have bays, and the previous occupants did not think about cleaning windows!! They only have single glazing, so we were going to look on the market in Spain as this is where we had seen them, but now looked on fleabay and found them there. Thanks folks. DG

I've only used my magnetic cleaner for single glazed windows, but the only problem with a windshield that I can imagine is, how stable is it? Is it at all flexible? The magnets are very strong and I don't think that the cleaning function (which is like a squeedgee) would work unless the surface was absolutely ridged.

I assume that you want to clean your canopy windshield when you are on the mobility scooter without getting wet? I'm sorry that I can't be more help, but i suggest that you post the question "how do I wipe rain off my mobility scooter canopy windscreen with out getting out in the rain" and see what other forum users come up with. The question about the magnetic cleaner is always going to get sidelined with discussions about windows I'm afraid!

The information I was looking for was for cleaning my windows but I was redirected to the canopy for a windshield I was just pointing out that was not what I was looking for so its all a big misunderstanding.

  • I came across this thread through a Google search. I was wondering if anyone had attempted to make their own magnetic window cleaner?

After reading a post on Instructables on making your own fish tank cleaner I was thinking about making a window wizard type thing for my double glazing with the magnets from an old computer hard drive. Apparently they are almost impossible to prise apart so from what I've read about Window Wizards, this sounds like they might be the right magnets for the job. I was just worried that they may be too powerful and damage my windows!

My sister bought one from Good Food show last year. We saw them being whizzed around being demonstrated and she bought a box there and then. When she got it home she found the rubber parts to be bent out of shape, so they wouldn't sit flush to the window pane.

If you do buy from an exhibition, whereby you don't get a receipt, check that everything is OK withit before you walk away. School boy error on our part and very frustrating to her
