2012 My Year!!!!

Each year I say I will lose weight and save money and every year I fail!!!
2012 will be MY YEAR!!!! I have joined the Virtual Sealed Pot Challenge and transferred my first money - £2.41!!!! It's a start.

I am joining Slimming World on Wednesday. I have done it before and I know it works well, I just need a big kick up the whatsy!!!!

I will be doing my own grocery challenge (daren't subscribe to too many threads or won't have time to do anything!!!!) I will set it at £350 per month which may seem high but I have been spending in excess of £100 per week sometimes:eek:
There are 4 of us, Me, DH, DD1 and DD2. I am starting to meal plan and cook lots more rather than eating ready meal type things. I do work full time which does limit time when we get home for cooking but I must be more prepared. DH works offshore so when he is home he generally cooks Mon - Fri so this helps. (If he didn't my diet would be horrendous!)

I have started this thread more to spur me on than anything, but please feel free to comment or make suggestions, all advise greatly appreciated;)

Need to get started on freezer/cupboard/fridge inventory to see what we can have this week. Have made today 6 portions of soup from left over veg in fridge, my favourite one being cauliflower and sprout!!!! This is for the start of my SW week which will begin on Thursday. ALso made some tomato sauce (for pasta) for tea but made enough to put 4 portions in freezer aswell (trying to trick kids as put in veg with tomatoes and blended to a smooth paste, hopefully they won't notice!!!!

Enough for my first post, off to do inventory and sort washing/do ironing then get on with tea!!!! Got 5 girls here at the moment and boy are they noisey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good for you!

mine are pretty much the same as you - we have a good thread for weight loss in 2012 aswell theres a nice bunch of us over there I can copy the thread in if you want.

I'm going back to SW on Thursday aswell want to lose a total of 32lbs which seems like a HUGE amount but I'm breaking it down into small chunks which I think helps me anyway.

Hi Erme, I don't have debt as such. My bank account is not very healthy, and if I didn't get paid on the 19th of each month I would go overdrawn. Went on holiday in July and which I paid for with my CC and DC, costing over a £1000(my share!) bank account still trying to recover!!!
I put everything on my credit card through the month and pay of at the end, MrT card which I get clubcard points for spends. Have decided that this month I am going to take out £100 per week to pay for food shopping and bits (any left over can go away towards bdays etc). I got £86.50 clubcard points in Dec, but I'm sure as I don't actually part with the cash I spend alot more than I need to. We want to go on hols again this year, girls want to go back to Eurocamp in Holland and I don't want to be paying for it this time next year!!!!
I do waste money on stupid things and really need to keep a check on it.

I have a slim diary which I will note in daily my spends to try to keep track of it.

Hopefully will be able to keep up with all these things!!! I can't decide if I am a procrastinator or just damn lazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to work out my meal plan for the week tonight, should have done it at the weekend but never mind! Going to Mr A tomorrow, with a list and going to stick to it. Will update tomorrow what I spend!!!

Hi DR, not too bad thanks. Went shopping spent £64.25 all from list except biscuits for girls and baking stuff. Came home made muffins and brownies which should last them til weekend. Also got 1 of the 4 b'day pressies I need by next weekend!!! Then after that got sis and best friend's 40th!!!!!!
Had a list of things to do when got home from shopping, DD1 says 'mum if I help you with your list can you help me with my homework!' WHAT HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sat for nearly 2 hours trying to explain how to work out the area and perimeter of a compound shape!!!! not sure what her teacher is doing!!! Rang my brother who luckily is a maths teacher!!! Took her to his, came back, did baking with DD2, took down half decs, emptied dw, finished tea, went back to pick her up!!!! Really could have done without that!!! Don't you just love 'em.

Done my meal plan for this week:
Today - lunch at mums:D Tea - Beef Casserole, dumplings, roast spuds and sweetcorn (last big nosh before weigh in!)
Wed - lunch at mums again ;) Tea -
Thurs - lunch -soup & ryvita Tea - pasta & sauce (hope I'll be good when we meet friends at pizzahut!!)
Fri - Lunch soup & ryvita Tea - Rice, mushroom, peas, smoked salmon
Sat - Lunch not sure (only me) Tea - Chicken & pasta
Sun - Lunch - salad Tea - Roast Beef, roasties, veg

Hopefully on Thursday will get 2 other presents, cards I need and pay for the girls pizza hut and still have change from my £100! The 4th birthday is my friend's sons, who we are going to pizza hut with, he wants money which I have already accounted for (thankfully!)
On the plus side, other than some fridge stuff may get away with not shopping for food next week so hopefully will be able to save quite a bit, fingers crossed.:o

Hope you've had a good day xx Taffy xx

DR - must admit feel better from doing something already!!!

Today - up at 6!!! shock to system!! Covering extra job at school so had to be there for 8am, girls were very good getting up.
Spent £8.40 on school dinners this week!! added to sig total. DD1 had dinners all week before christmas DD2 only 2 times. From next week DD1 can have 2 or 3 max! Will try to cut down further if I can, but she really enjoys them.

Well, joined slimming world and was a bit shocked at my weight, but I have been very greedy over christmas! Did expect it to be below 15st but was 15st 3.5lbs!!! But not for long (hopefully) Not paying for sw out of 'normal' spends as saved in another account to pay for the 10 week plan (get 2 free)

Was very good when got home from school. Cooked tea, hoovered upstairs, living room and swept hallway. Lovely mum took all decs off tree and around living room so only have to take tree down and hangy ceiling things tomorrow when we get home. Rather pleased with myself.

Tomorrow straight from school to town, card shop, 2 pressies to buy then off to pizza hut for friend's sons birthday - I will resist!!! Will have a salad bowl I think, safest bet.

Now going to put my start weight on the weight loss thread then off to bed to read sw mag.

Have a good day tomorrow DR and anyone else who is reading xx
