I find home bargains excellent for many branded products, but also very good for ranges I've never heard of. Regarding the supermarkets, I would have bought lots of value pasta, tinned tomatoes and rice etc, but if there are any offers on the good tinned tomatoes, I buy them instead, as the price is only usually a few pence more. The tomatoes I find particularly important as there is much less juice in the non value ranges and I find this important when making Lasagne or Chilli etc. I have no complaints about the value ranges in lasagne sheets or kidney beans either.
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

    Hi Yasmin

You are right its a typo and should say 2011 but yes I have paid off over 11000 in 2 years I have been in a DMP with payplan and its been a long hard slog but I cut back as much as I could tolerate to pay off what I owed as quickly as possible ive basically lived on half my income for 2 years, I cut back started shopping in shops like Home & Bargain, B&M Bargains and the market and thought before I bought anything. Im debt free as of the end of next month and thats whats been in my mind everytime I think about how "skint" I am at the mo

    That's amazing Shebangs, well done:T

I tend to buy Sainsburys value ranges when it comes to dried, tinned and frozen. I also alter at between there and Lidl. The strawberry muesli stuff is only £1.50 or so Lidl for instance. I made the mistake of buying mussels in garlic from Lidl however, yuck! it was vile!

  • I am ok using value brands for a lot of my shopping (there are a few exceptions). I'm ok with S'bury's, Tesco and Asda but less keen on Morrisons. I also am lucky enough to have Aldi, Lidl, BM and Home Bargains all nearby. When I have time and inclination I shop in them to get some branded bargains.

Its a shame asda didn't roll out the scanners they tested. We were lucky enough to be include in a hand held scanner that scanned everything as it went along. It gave a running total as you went along, then you handed the scanner at the checkout and they spot checked 13 items. Totally open to abuse but was very hand to keep a watch

Lol, apparently you can get apps for your phone but i'm going to be good and stick to what I know at the minute, Though until this thread hadn't thought about the bits I pick up like shampoo and conditioner. Always look for the deals but might go browsing later this week!

    Hi Ukeuro

I've used quite a few of the skincare products from Aldi and they are generally fab! At the mo I'm using a face serum which is about £3 and also their eye creme which is about the same. They also do a version of YSL Touche Eclat (which costs about £20) for about £3 and it is absolutely brilliant - does exactly the same job as the ridiculously expensive version.

    Hope this helps x
