Has anybody bought anything through www.MoneyOffSoftware.com? It appears to offer good savings (with "coupons") but to me has all the hallmarks of a dodgey site (having read many post on the forum!) - ie, no phone numbers, no "about" page. I've seached this formum for MoneyOffSoftware but no results were shown.
I know that if "it looks to good to be true" then it probably is but I'd like to know if anybody has used them and with what outcome.
Thanks.

Well I wouldn't use it, but then again there's nothing on their site that looks any good to me.....I'm sure it's some 1 man band reselling software and lots of it looks nothing special that you couldn't probably get as freeware anyway.
They also hide their 'company' details from a whois lookup so you can be sure it's not a proper company.

just a reseller of software via affilliate linksEx forum ambassador

another look reveals they're just a reseller of 'Regnow' software.....someone that probably bought an ebook on how to make money online,

Hi
I own moneyoffsoftware.com and I can assure you there’s nothing dodgy about my site, I have not had one single complaint in the three years it’s been running and have given over $100’000 away in discounts, have any of you had a bad experience on my site, no you have not, yes I am a regnow affiliate they are the biggest vendors of software license on the web. The software I sell is very popular, and spannerzone can you tell me where I can get an ebook on how to build, promote and maintain a site like mine because I’ve never seen one.
Regards

Can you explain why your site contact details are hidden behind a privacy service, and there appears to be no way to contact you except via a contact form?
No email address, phone number or location. That's normally a sign of a website operator who wants to be able to ignore customers when it suits them. What's your reason?0 -
What’s a privacy service? The contact page exists on my site and is set-up to stop spam bots from collecting my email address and sending tons of spam, there’s no way am I going to put my telephone number up, there’s to many nutters out there, but a genuine customer can email and ask for it, I answer all email usually as soon has I see them. I’ll fix the lack of visible email address, I never notice it could not be seen, thank for bringing it to my attention.0

It's a service which hides all of the contact details in your domain registration. Typically it's used by website operators who don't want dissatisfied customers tracking them down.
BTW, do you realise that you need to get permission to post on MoneySavingExpert.com as the representative of a company?0 -

Thanks everybody. I tried a whois search as well and it came back with this address:
Registrant Contact:
moneyoffsoftware.com Private Registrant
A Happy DreamHost Customer
417 Associated Rd #324
Brea, CA 92821
US
Which, according to googlemaps, could be a a Mail Box (Brea Mail Center?).
I have to say, it doesn't fill me with confidence.0 -
That's because Dreamhost is the web host and as the person behind the site has opted out of displaying his credentials which is fine for an individual that runs a personal site but any half decent company or sole trader running a site for business should include their details. Ultimately it's up to them I guess but any savvy web user should always be wary of a company that does not freely give out their details.....
