Peeling vinyl off kitchen doors

I have a couple of doors in my kitchen especially the one above the oven which is peeling due to the heat.
Wondering what I can do as a cheap alternative to getting a new kitchen. I quite like the idea of having a brown kitchen and can see the wood under the vinyl. Would it be a 'simple' task of taking off the vinyl from all the kitchen cupboard doors and painting them in a brown kitchen cupboard paint?

I imagine its mdf under the vinyl which you can paint. How easy the vinyl will come off and if any glue will be left is another story. If you are going to try it maybe melt the glue sticking the vinly to the mdf with a blow torch or even a iron. Then sand the mdf to a smooth finish. It wouldnt surprise me if it took a couple of hours each door and may not end up looking that great but its is a cheap alternative to getting a new ktichen.
If you do have a bit more of a budget have a look at some of the kitchen door replacement companies on the internet. They do a brown gloss one which looks nice from the pictures.0 -
We did this a few years ago with kitchen cupboards so it shouldnt be a problem, but remember the more you prepare the better the finish.
Good luck and let us know how you get on, it helps others to know it works.
I painted mine cream and white, looked like a new kitchen when we had finished.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
