Message offering £900 into bank account

Hi.

I just received a strange message on my answering machine offering to put £900 into my bank account, but I need to call an 0871 number first. They were asking me to call 08712401380, which was also their CLID. I have not called it and do not intend to, as it seems like an obvious scam.

"This is a free national information message. We have £900 that we would like to pay back to your current bank account. Once more, it's free to claim it. So to find out how, call us on 0871 240 1380."

No doubt it's a con, but not because an 0871 number is used.

Maybe I should have made my first post a bit clearer. I think the message that I received is a scam, which is why I've posted it in the "Warnings & Rip-Off MoneySaving Board", as I think people should be aware of it.

The link is to an MP3 of the voicemail that I received, which I actually quoted word for word in my message.

I don't have £900 to offer anybody, and I don't think the person/people who left me that message do either.

In the past I have also received messages from someone calling themselves James from "The Information Team", which may be the same or similar scam.

Tried calling that number from work. It's another recorded message, that goes on for a long time....and it appears to be one long talking advertisement for a 'no win, no fee' legal service to claim back 'illegal' bank charges.
