We ordered a bei air sofa on the 31/11/2011 for £399, today they are on sale for one day only for £299, can we cancel our original order and reorder at todays price saving us £100 or have we lost out.

You can try but you have no legal right to cancel your order in these circumstances.

Taking a look at the Harveys website:

"We promise to give you a full refund if you change your mind for any reason within 7 days of placing your order with us. After this date we will have in most cases a binding contract with our suppliers to supply or make your product."

The order you placed is outside of those 7 days, therefore they've sent it to be constructed; don't forget, it's rare they've got loads of the sofa sitting in a warehouse waiting to come into store, the majority are (albeit mass produced) made "to order" so to speak.

I very much doubt they'll refund you in order to lose £100 - unfortunately, that's the nature of Christmas sales!
