Annoying Buzzing - Turtle Beach X12 Headset (Xbox 360)

Hi

Bought my son the above for Christmas but his on-line friends are complaining of buzzing and he can hear buzzing too.

We've tried the following:

Moving the mic away.
Turning the Chat volume down.
Turning the game volume down.
Turning the base down.
Turning the base middle down.
also tried it with the base turned up.
also tried multiple combinations of the above.

Grateful for advice please?

Is your son using the play and charge cable for the controller?

As this is the most likely cause:)
