Karcher pressure washer

Just bought a Karcher pressure washer with in-built detergent tank. However the manufacturers own brand of detergents are very pricey compared to other makes. Would readers please advise if normal detergents /car shampoo can be used.
The experience and opinion of other forum readers will be appreciated.

I've just hired a Karcher carpet cleaner and it came with bottles of detergent from the Fleetfield Chemical Co. Ltd of Sheffield, tel 0114 2738999. They were pretty cheap on sale or return from the hire place, so maybe give Fleetfield a ring to see if they have something for your washer.

Yes car shampoo can be used, also if you have a pound stretcher near you, often they have carplan pressure washer detergent for £4.99 for 5 litres and will remove winter grime without stripping paste wax off the surface.

don't know if I am being a heathen but I find fairy washing up liquid very effective and then rinse with a polishing additive.

It is not advisable to clean a car with washing up liquid. Plenty of warnings on Google.
Also the info. with my pressure washer says that the machine may be damaged if washing up liquid is put into the tank.
    Forgotten but not gone.
