Halfords will probably sell them at a massive markup too. They wanted £8 for headlamp deflectors last time I checked

It's a shame they are not reusable, headlamp deflectors. I get mine from amazon for about 3.79, that said I must order some for Febr.

This law doesn't come in until the end of March. From http://www.net-iris.fr/veille-juridique/actualite/29047/entree-en-vigueur-de-nouvelles-mesures-ameliorant-la-securite-routiere.php

    "D'autres r!formes vont suivre

I always reuse headlamp deflectors. Keep the backing paper, peal the deflectors off the lights gently when you return and put them back on the paper and wrap them in clingfilm until your next trip.

We have managed to get away with it once :(. We do it coming back at the Calais ferry port because it's often dark by the time we dock back in the UK. We do try each times, but the bloomin' things get stuck :o Maybe we will have better luck next month.

zagfles to answer your questions, new speed cameras, they plan 400 installations this year, will not have the warning sign. Existing cameras may have the warning signs removed sometime in the future.
When I said 1 unit I meant French unit as that is what is quoted in French papers.
You do not need headlamp deflectors, I have used a piece gaffer tape, carefully positioned lots of times.
Everyone is looking for breathalysers that always give a green reading so I am sure it won't be long before these are available!
The whole exercise is to save the authorities money and to make people more drink aware. How long before the breathalyser is linked to the car starter? See http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2006-04-24-breathalyzer-usat_x.htm
A lot of accidents are caused by people driving too close to the car in front, we call them suppositories(up your a*se).

I just use duct tape to DIY a headlamp deflector
Made a template up and just cut new bits for each trip

But do they still have the massive warning signs plus a speed limit reminder about 0.5-1km before the cameras? Or are they getting rid of those?

Did they ever have them off the motorways?

I think I've seen them in towns - general ones saying there are speed cameras rather for specific cameras. Or that might have been in Spain...

But yes the ones I was referring to are on the motorways.

Gloomendoom yes, all the old cameras have or had a large warning notice. Plus they are marked on some road atlases, AA 1911 for example.
