have to concur ith other users, psu is where a lot of people skimp out on. but alwyas go for the best stuff you can afford.

only got for antec or corsair, anything else is just pants. you do not want the psu to blow and then take out your entire rig as well.

also the cit ones are noisy. all cheap psus are noisy, think of the noisy pollution you have to live with with a cheap noisy psu yoo

I was working to a recommendation of a minimum 700W for a GTX560, I hear what you are saying about the HDD and think you are probably right - could easily reformat the one I am using which would more than justify a few extra £££ on the PSU.

Antec 650W Modular one here looks good value: http://www.ebuyer.com/159920-antec-truepower-new-650w-modular-psu-0761345-07660-9

You've added it to your list as PSU: Antec 650W £ 41.76 Ebuyer - but the link above is £59.99.

Also do you plan to overclock the CPU? I see you're buying an aftermarket cooler, (i have the same bought 4 years ago, very good, keeping my q660 mild overclock of 700+ Mhz at decent temps and ok for noise). But for the 2500 should be even better. But if your not overclocking then why spend that extra £15, unless you want a very cool cpu and very quiet pc.
  • Remember check that the memory is compatible, PCs are a hassle these days the parts too fussy. Unless your going for top end i can't see the point

I was buying it with a view to overclock (hence the 2500k) but had just been having similar thoughts and figured I will notice an improved graphics card more + with more from dabs I can use the discount code.

just checked again and definately including VAT - you scared me then! can't go over £600.

In my experience the stock fans can be rather inefficient and noisy - had problems with several in the past and this seemed like a cheap solution.

I went to the website and it showed ex VAT prices for me. Wouldn't normally bother but a few people on forums have had problems with Pixmania so just wanted to check for myself.

Just be sure your RAM volts are at 1.5v or less. Otherwise you'd have to mess about in your bios to get them at that level.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it but ditch the OEM copy of Windows and pay the extra for the retail version. If you keep changing hardware with OEM you are meant to purchase another license and you can't resell it. Retail allows you to or something to that effect I'll let someone else clarify :)

BTW, with regards to your build. Are you preferential to CPU's?
A quad core AMD CPU (3ghz) can be purchased for around £60, which saves you a lot more money for playing with.

The PC I'm typing this on (whilst not the fastest), can be built for cheaper and save you some money.

I use it for these tasks
(Video Rendering, Watching Films, Playing games (i.e blackops, bf2), watching youtube, facebook, email, msn) and have no issues with performance.

    The spec of it..............

    £110 - Windows 7 64-bit Retail
£100 - Western Digital Raptor (crap, don't bother buying it)
    £65 - AMD X4 640 CPU (4 x 3.0GHz)
    £45 - Gainward Geforce GT240 Graphics
    £75 - Gigabyte MA770T-UD3 M/B

I think if you went an AMD build, the £150 for your CPU would probably get you an AMD 6/8 core CPU for the same price which will give you more bang for the buck.
