I've had a parking ticket for parking in a disabled bay and not displaying a disabled badge - they stuck the ticket to my windscreen - right beside my valid and correctly displayed disabled badge.
The 'ticket' is a receipt type affair - and gave me 10 days to pay or dispute - which i had to do in writting.
I emailed (in writting!) with scanned copies of my disabled pass - issued from the local council.
I also emailed the shopping centre saying i was not happy with the company they had used and their approach.
The ticket/parking company responded saying email wasn't in writting and i had to post a letter - which i did - but also emailed back saying i'd given them full proof their ticket was invalid and i wasn't amused at what amounted to bullying, and that i wanted their confirmation the matter was closed - i said this in the letter also.

I've had no response from the shopping centre nor the parking ticket company and neither provide any sort of phone number i can contact them on.

This all happened a month ago - do i assume they've both forgot about it or is there anything else i should do?
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.

  • Assuming its a private parking co which it sounds like-ignore everything.
What is this "writting" you talk of?
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.
  • Hi,

I think littlejaffa means that he/she had hand written a letter and then scanned it to add to email.

Why on earth did you take it so seriously when this forum and the stickies tell you to ignore fake PCNs like this? No harm done but there's so much info about this scam in the sticky threads, including a very clear Watchdog clip about this con.

Why on earth would you want to phone the scam private parking co? (PPC).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ignore them littlejaffa, and keep their photograph as evidence of a breach of the Equalities Act, A blue badge is inapplicable in a private car park, but they have given prima facie evidence of Direct Discrimination imho, as in the badge being displayed is the proof, their ticket is the failure to make the reasonable adjustment in allowing the use of the bay. Ignore them but keep the evidence.

If the PPC keeps threatening, tell the shopping centre they are in breach of the Equalities Act, as they are responsible for the actions of THEIR contractor the PPC.

But really best practice is to ignore them.
  • Stop trying to communicate with them and be prepared to ignore some silly letters. It's a scam.
    Which company is it?

OP, I know these crooks are trying it on but is the charge for not displaying your blue badge (not valid in a private car park anyway) or for not buying a pay and display ticket?

to answer some of the questions -

The car park is free - the ticket clearly says the charge is for parking in a disabled space.
The badge displayed is valid in the car park- i checked this.

I emailed them with a scanned copy of the badge - and printed that email/letter and the scanned copy of the badge and posted the same to them.

Why would i want to contact them? Because when someone says i owe money i prefer to address it and have it resolved, and have confirmation it's resolved rather than ignore it - ignoring things never helps.

Also - i suspect like most people - i found this forum when i was looking for advice, it's not somewhere i'd happen upon accidentally so wasn't aware of the issues.

I thought at the very least the shopping centre management would have responded

The blue badge scheme does not apply in private car parks. This information is stated in the paperwork that came with your blue badge. Disabled bays in private car parks are for the use of ALL disabled people, not just blue badge holders.

It does if the people you are dealing with are scam artists. If I said you owe me £1000 for reading this post would you "appeal" or ignore me?

I would as well, but as they dont seem to care that their customers are being ripped off by scum, write to their head office and tell them you will be shopping somewhere else in future.

You haven't told us who these parasites are yet, please do!

Yes it does, in 2 instances I can think of:

    1. Phishing emails asking for money or pretending to be from your Bank

    and

    2. Private parking fake PCNs, like the one you have.

And on here we are all reasonable, law-abiding people who come to advise on this forum, just like you. We pay our taxes and we don't break laws and we pay our dues. But a fake PCN is not a fine, no money is due at all and, honestly, writing to them just prompts more threatograms.

Have you seen the Watchdog clip yet? If not then please read the sticky threads by Crabman to understand that these are scammers after your money.

All this rambling is superfluous...PRIVATE = IGNORE, IGNORE, IGNORE SOME MORE.

Everything else is wasteful of electrons.
