Hey guys
After some advice. Me and my partner are due to go look at some properties over the next few days, however I am a little concerned about the checks carried out. It is my understanding they carry out credit checks.
Basically I have been out of Uni for 2 1/2 years up until last September I was in a fairly poor paid job and had large (ish) debts and made quite a lot of late payments. I dont have any CCJ's or anything like that agaisnt me.
Anyway I got a much better paid job in September which is secure (As secure as it can be) and my payments for a few months have been regular and my personal debt is down to a 4K loan and about 1.5K across credit cards thats it.
My partners credit history is unblemished and she works for the NHS so again fairly secure job. Between us we earn 40K and she will be the main person on the agreement, if need be we can use my parents as a Guarantor.
So basically is my slightly iffy previous history going to cause major headaches, anyone have any idea on the scoring they use and if one person doesnt meet this then thats it they dont let you the house
Any advice would be appreciated as we are in a good financial position to move out now and really want to thanks guys :T

I don't think you'll have a problem. Different landlords use different credit check companies, but with no CCJs on either party and an income of £40k I can't see it being an issue that you've had missed payments in the past.
How much is the rent?
It's hardly likely to be equivalent to £5000 on a credit card?0 -
i'd offer you one of my houses like a shot !!"0

You should be fine with a guarentor, they will probably be more interested in your current salary than your debts0

The rent is 595 pcm.
We had a look at the property tonight and are going down to fill out forms and stuff tomorrow.
Thanks for the replys guys, fingers crossed0 -
They state 300 pounds of rent requires 9K Gross Salary so thats just under 18K needed for the house in mind and we make 40K so that shouldnt be an issue.
We dont have kids, smoke etc either.0
