You've seen them advertising on tv for all manner of things from cancer to wildlife to Africa, all asking for a seemingly meaningless amount of money, £2 or £3 a month.
Yet how much do the banks charge to process these quasi micro payments ? I did email one of the major cancer charities but they failed to respond so I thought I'd ask here.
If you send £2 a month and some grubby bank charges 50p to process the payment, then that equates to 25% which is too much. I might go so far as to say they should do it for free but as it is totally automatic, it actually costs nothing to operate at the margins.
