Honeywell cm927 wireless thermostat buttons not working please help

I have a two year ikebana cm927 wireless honey well thermostat never had any probs this morning the background light was on and none of the buttons work on it
I am manually controlling the temperature by turning my valves up and down
I gave changed the batteries
The light has now gone out but none of the buttons work the time is wrong but the date is right
I manually cOntrol the heating so have not set timers so this doesn't matter
Please can someone help me I've spent all day in the Internet but can't get it the buttons to work

Have you tried a factory reset of the programmer. I think the reset procedure is on page 13 of the manual:
