Car insurance under 24
Ok this might sound daft but I'm going ask anyways
Shall I wait till end of June when I turn 25 to renew my car insurance as I've a compulsary excess £300 for under 24 and Im hoping it might be a bit cheaper? Can I in the meantime take out temporary car insurance every month including business cover? And which car insurance companies do you recommend as I dont like Direct Line & neither Co-Op as ive been with both.

When i was 25 i was told i was the wrong end of 25 so my insurance stayed the same. Its hard to say what insurance company is best to use unless you have a accident and need to make a claim from them.0

Just keep it rolling. 6 months is a long time to wait. Perhaps, if you really want and they quote well you could switch to a 10 month policy this time around so you get maximum advantage. However, as stated the drop off at 25 may not be that significant.
It's far more importnat to shop around and haggle hard on yearly renewal IMO. You'll save more that way.0 -
direct line are by far not the cheapest for under 25's or even under 35's.
you require buisines use so i assume you use your car for your work that envolves use of your car for that work rather than just comuting to and from.
in this case i would pay a visit to a local broker and refuse use of tracker type insurance you wont save any cash using these schemes.
10 month boosters can sometimes save you cash, but i wouldnt think so with buisiness class.
out of curiousity what are you driving?0 -
I didnt notice any real difference in premiums when I turned 25, my premiums were just dropping gradually every year from the time I past my test at 17, when I hit about 27-28 they seemed to stop falling and have stayed around the £300 -400 region since.0

Temp insurance for 6 months may cost you more than a full year.
Get insured now and dont crash or you will pay £300 excess. Crash after june when your excess is £150?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I can't believe it but I found cheap insurance by a company Inusre The Box (lol at the name) but I know its risk going over the annual 6000 miles but I guess it will make me a 'safer' driver and saves me petrol in the longrun. Thanks for all your contributes, much appreciated0

They came out cheap for me when they 1st started but i chose a company without the hassle. What if someone borrows your car
like my sister did to mine.
Nearly 2000 miles in 2 weeks towing the caravan and days out whilst her car was being repaired. Insure the box wouldnt cover me
to drive her car so that would mean a policy change for her.
If she had not borrowed my car she would have lost at least 4 days of her holiday. I dont use my car everyday so i could wait for hers to
be repaired and then use that until she came back.
Cannot remember all the downsides but enough to make me want to pay more for a better policy.
Probably a good thing as i have seen a fair few bad reviews about them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
