Hi
Please advise. I sold a toy to someone in the channel islands, (Guernsey) and the lady in the post office told me I didn't have to fill in a customs declaration. I looked on the royal mail website and I think i should have filled one in.
What will happen to the parcel? I put a return address on it? I only posted it on Friday.
Do you think i should post another toy to the buyer or wait and see if it comes back to me first?
I don't want to let her down.
Please help, I'm a new business seller. :A

I think customs should assess it themselves, decide how much it is worth then tax your buyer accordingly, or it may not even be checked, you never know0

I did that recently, the buyer received the item and there were no problems as far as I know... (it was only a mug)0

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It is only worth about £12.
Do Channel Islands buyers have to pay tax on goods received then? Is it like us buying from the USA?
Thanks
HAPPY NEW YEAR0 -
Have sent many items to Jersey and Guernsey over the last 8 or so years and never had a problem or anything not turn up... It was only about six months ago I realised they should have had CN22 forms attached. I have always sent the invoice/del. note in a "documents enclosed" plastic envelope stuck to the front of the packet, so maybe customs have checked the invoice over.0

My understanding is that Europe does not require a customs label but outside of Europe does. I've had no problems.0

That's right they aren't part of the EU. I put the invoice inside the packet and a return address on the packet. Hopefully they will either open it to check then send it on, or return it to me. I suppose I will have to wait and see.
Thanks for your help everyone. :A0 -

As has been said, it is the EU with notable exceptions. The list that require customs label are:Countries outside of the EU. Including: Channel Islands - Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Sark Andorra Canary Islands Gibraltar San Marino Vatican City State.0 -
worst case they will open it and charge accordingly0
