Hi hope someone can help, just trying to improve general speed of computer and was getting rid of the virgin media security so thought I would try the suggestions of the forum.

I expect that your iTunes/utorrent applications could be consuming a lot of your CPU. Have you listed your running tasks, ordered by CPU?

It's hard to guess which of your applications are using system resources without knowing what your environment is doing.

Normally, if you right click on the taskbar, you can go to 'Start Task Manager' and click the 'Processes' tab. Once you have that open you can see what's running. May be getting a bit complex, but once that's listed you can find out a bit more towards where the system bottlenecks are, either CPU or IO.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.60 - FileHippo.com and Install. Run a QUICK SCAN, remove everything it finds, post log here. Then run a FULL SCAN, remove everything it finds, post log here.
