Faulty kettle

I bought a kettle in Tesco in November, it stopped working about two weeks ago. I took it to the same Tesco and asked for a replacement. I had no receipt- have receipts going back years, but not that one!
I was refused. I paid by debit card, is it enough to bring a statement showing I bought items at a certain time in Tesco? Can they refer to their records to see if I did purchase a kettle at that time?

As long as its on your debit card staement, it is proof of payment.
Did you pay it seperately or along with other things, you may have problems if you bought it with other things, but nothing venture,
nothing gained.
Good luck with it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Bought it as part of my usual grocery shop.
I'll try anyway! Thanks for the help0 -
If you have a clubcard, it will show in your clubcard account, which should be simple for them to look up. But yes, a debit card statement is valid proof of purchase under SOGA.
Are you asking for a refund or a replacement? If the kettle has been reduced in the sales, they may be holding back because you can't prove you bought it at the higher price.0
