Van Insurance for 20 year old (male!)

Trying to find tpft van insurance for my son, he has one years no claims bonus. The van is only worth around £400 but has a 1.9 engine.Tried Evans, very expensive. I would like to either be the main or named driver - I am 54 - dont think there is any difference who is main driver as he is classified as a young driver either way. He has been driving for over 2 years. Lots of companies claim to insure vans and when you have filled out the lengthy forms online they then tell you to phone then say they dont do van insurance or only do fully comp van insurance!! How many hours have I spent - I have managed to get it down to around £700.
